I had one tiny piece of unfinished business in the save, and that was to get my favourite regen striker (Camilo Salazar) to beat Shearer’s Premier League Goals record. I was then hovering over the resign button… but couldn’t do it. This then prompted me to exit the game, fine the GK as heavily as I could, shout at him that he was shit, lump him into the u18’s, then in a bigger fit of rage I terminated his contract. I’ve never seen a performance like it in many thousands of hours of playing.īut the really shit part? Dortmund had 2 shots, scored both. My team had a ridiculous xG of 4.0 or something, but their GK was quite literally unbearable. Absolutely fuming over it.ĭortmund’s GK finished the game with an astronomically high 9.5 rating, saving something ridiculous like 7 clear cut chances. Well, wouldn’t you know it, but I lost that final. Literal perfect season was on the cards, it all just hinges on a final season Champions League final against a pretty poor Borussia Dortmund side who’d I’d spanked 8-0 the season before. Won the pointless Comminity Shield, Carabao Cup, FA Cup and went unbeaten in the league. ![]() Team was immense, spunked £250 million on signing a new wonderkid striker from PSG (I was the baddies at this point), proceeded to have the perfect season. Moment I nearly resigned came in and 15th season. Over those 16 seasons I won pretty much everything numerous times, with the odd slip up here and there to keep things interesting. An absolutely broken wage bill (we were spending £9.5 million a year on wages across the team), happy spending owner. Stuck with Southampton then for 16 seasons, managing to turn them into the most ridiculously good football team the world had ever seen. Be it the inability to defend against mediocre sides, Fullbacks chatting to the stewards instead of defending, Star strikers texting their wags instead of netting. It seems the latest version of Football Manager has many, rage inducing moments. Worked by way up managing Gloucester, then Vanarama National Plymouth side, before miraculously being gifted the job at Southampton, mid season, year they’d been relegated to the Championship. Im normally the one who doesnt rage quit, i usually try and take results on the chin and move on. I always do a journeyman save every new game, but never actually quit a job.
